Brasilian Night

The Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club, JFCC, organised a Brazilian-themed night in September at the Four Seasons Hotel where its members—expatriate journalists and businessmen and women—could enjoy the country’s signature cocktail and food, accompanied by Bossa Nova performances.

Among the 100 attendees were the Brazilian and Indian Ambassadors to Indonesia Rubem Antonio Correa Barbosa and Nengcha Lhouvum Mukhopadhaya. Four Seasons Jakarta General Manager Christian Poda and JFCC President Justin Doebele welcomed the guests at the Italian restaurant Alto which officially opens its doors o the public this month.

A few traditional Brazilian dishes such as păo de Queijo (fried cheese bread), Brigadeiro (chocolate balls) and Beijinho (coconut balls) served as appetizers and deserts; the rest of the menu remained pure and authentic Italian with Spaghetti Bolognese, Cheesy penne and Ravioli. But the star of the night was Brazil’s refreshing national cocktail Caipirinha, a tangy and lime-dominated concoction. Bossa Nova performances and a Brazilian percussion band provided the beats for the rest of the entertaining evening.
