The “Deutsche Schule Jakarta“ (DSJ) originally started operations in Bandung in 1957. Since 1998, the school has been relocated to a new, state-of-the-art building, nestled on a spacious campus in a clean and safe environment, in Bumi Serpong Damai.

At DSJ, we believe that education is about learning, and learning does not come from books alone. It is important for students to experience the joys of learning and to relish the learning process. We stimulate the intellect, support them with guidance and structure, while encourage each student to freely explore and grow as an individual. Developing life and social skills, self-confidence and self-esteem, a healthy respect and consideration for others are just some of the areas in a student’s development that receive as much attention as lessons and schoolbooks. In addition, as a German school, DSJ fosters the development of intercultural skills among its students and open for all nationalities.

Our highly motivated and professional teaching team, mostly teachers with a German Masters degree in school education, employs modern methods including team-teaching and the tutor group system. Within such a warm, positive and encouraging atmosphere, students are exposed to the joy and fun in learning, which in turn serves to reinforce their own motivation.

Teaching methods in DSJ follow European pedagogical concepts. More specifically, we champion the German ideals of individuals working creatively, and independently. In addition, classes at DSJ are relatively smaller in comparison to Germany. This is advantageous as we can better take care of our individual student’s needs. Our students remain together for the entire school year, which enable lasting friendships to be forged, and the development of a strong team spirit.

Deutsche Schule Jakarta is located at Bumi Serpong Damai, Tangerang, Banten.

In the senior school level, the German International Abitur known as “Deutsches Internationales Arbitur (DIA)” in German, is an international acclaimed college preparatory curriculum and diploma which provides an academically exceptional and culturally rich multilingual education to students of all nationalities and backgrounds, as well as well-rounded curriculum of languages, sciences, mathematics, arts and physical education. With the DIA, students in DSJ have access to all public universities in Germany, which are mostly tuition free, and also have the opportunity to enroll into worldwide universities.

A generous 4.3 hectares of school area, DSJ is equipped with a large multi-purpose gymnasium, tennis courts, beach volleyball court, volleyball and basketball courts, soccer field, 300m running track, 25m swimming pool, and many more. German standard teaching equipment, German standard science laboratories, a music room, a large amphitheatre, European standard canteens and other facilities support students’ learning process. DSJ also provides professional bus transport services for students.
