InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza Introduces New Executive ChefHospitality Updates
The 5-star InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza hotel is delighted to introduce the new executive chef, Jocelyn Argaud, a French man who has a solid background in classic French cuisine appointed to take charge of the culinary services as well as improving new concept menu. Chef Jocelyn has a solid background in such cuisine, but he is also well-versed in many different cooking styles. He takes inspiration from each place he has visited and he enjoys the whole creative process of perfecting new dishes. He plans to introduce an exciting food concept that focuses on utilizing local products and harnessing the talents around him.
Before coming to Indonesia’s busy capital to join the hotel, Chef Jocelyn had worked for Four Seasons Resort at Sayan as an executive sous chef. Chef Jocelyn has been passionate about food from an early age. He grew up watching his mother cook at home in his native Lyon. During the first years of his career, the chef had a privilege of working at several Michelin star-rated in Paris where he developed his essential skills under the guidance of experts. His first overseas position was as a sous chef for a French restaurant in California, USA marking the first of his many exotic work destinations.
In 2006, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Russia, to join an exclusive French restaurant that was famous for hosting VIP events and got a chance to take on a position as an executive sous chef during the G8 Summit to cook for the world leaders and high-ranked governmental dignitaries. Other achievements in his culinary field are when he was working for the Royal Palace of Qatar where he took a responsibility to manage a team of 18 chefs in a French kitchen and handled prestigious celebrations, including a royal wedding. Chef Jocelyn later returned to the five-star hotel industry and joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 2011 with a two-year stint in Maldives.
Chef Jocelyn is a big fan of Asian cuisine and he is looking forward to immersing himself into Jakarta’s vibrant dining scene. He also hopes to explore areas beyond the city and sample the traditional food.
