Marriott International Donates Books for Mobile Library Programme

25 Marriott International properties in Indonesia introduced a new CSR programme to raise awareness and support education in Indonesia by donating 1,800 books to Yayasan Emmanuel for its Mobile Library Programme. A symbolic ceremony eventwas held on 11 October at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel Thamrin Jakarta.

Yayasan Emmanuel has been operating the Mobile Library Programme since 2007 to provide access to books to disadvantaged children and families in Jakarta and its surroundings to enhance the love of literature and encourage reading at a young age. Until now, the library has received more than 6,200 books, which have reached thousands ofchildren in the Jakarta and Bogor area. The programme has provided reading material to over 115,100 children and mothers.

The spirit of Marriott International to serve surroundings communities is demonstrated through financial contributions, in-kind giving and associate volunteering that extends to the communities where the businesses are operating. The company will continue to share its support to the local communities through other social sustainability programmes.
