Peace and Love is a festival to celebrate diversity, community, peace and love. Founded in 1999, the festival had to file for bankruptcy in 2013 before coming back to life one year later. It aims to promote solidarity and mutual respect through music and ranks among the most-awaited events in the country.
The Summerburst is Scandinavia’s premier contemporary music event. This festival brings the best dance acts the world has to offer to the Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, for two days of heart-pumping, ground-shaking electronic music.
Gothenburg Culture Festival
The Gothenburg Culture Festival, established in 1991 and held in the city centre each year, is one massive street party attracting more than 700,000 festival-goers every year. Expect live music, dance, design and fashion, film, street artists, handicraft, history, comedy, poetry and theatre - anything your heart desires. This 6-day party takes place in August and is free of charge.
Stockholm Early Music Festival
Stockholm Early Music Festival is the largest international event for historical music in the Nordic countries. Aiming to celebrate the majestic sounds of ancient music, the festival’s repertoire varies from baroque, renaissance, to medieval times. The festival has been held annually in June in the historical setting of Stockholm’s Old Town since 2002. Its programme includes lunch and evening performances alongside seminars and master classes.
The Reorient Festival combines the best of Eastern and Western culture in a festival of music, dance and culture. In addition to a varied entertainment programme, the festival also includes a number of talks and seminars about current issues involving the Middle East. Seriousness aside, the festival is interspersed with the best of Arab club culture and European dance, providing wild and energetic dance music throughout the festival.
