On October 28, coinciding with National Youth Pledge Day, POP! Hotel Malioboro Yogyakarta celebrated its second anniversary. Hotel Manager Melyssa Cataleya Evand organized a series of CSR activities for the hotel’s anniversary celebrations.
In accordance with the hotel brand’s eco-friendly concept, branded green bags were distributed at some of the city’s main tourist sites, such as Borobudur temple, the bustling Malioboro street as well as traditional markets Beringharjo and Pathuk, encouraging the use of cloth bags instead of plastic bags to reduce global warming.
On the day of the anniversary itself, the hotel organized a flag ceremony led by Netral D. Sosromenduren Primary School, and afterwards presented POP! Steps, a dance performance by the hotel’s staff, and the cutting of tumpeng, a traditional cone-shaped rice dish.
On October 30, the hotel continued to distribute green bags and used clothes at Indrayanti Beach and the village of Budgean in Wonosari. Around 45 kilograms of cone seeds were given to local farmers with the hope that this small contribution could help the local community.
