Marriott International Hotels in Jakarta worked hand-in-hand, putting in their time and energy to organise a run. More than 2,000 runners contributed IDR 120,000 each for an event that was held following the 5K run.

The funds collected were given to Yayasan Emmanuel for its food programme and  also donated to Lombok Earthquake relief, initiated by the Sheraton Senggigi for associates who were left homeless, in need of medical treatment, or those who needed basic supplies such as clothing, food, water and shelter.

The event began at Le Meridien and the course took runners through Bundaran HI and Semanggi and back to Le Meridien, completing a 5-Kilometer run. The first 400 runners to cross the finish line received a medal of completion.

‘Run to Give’ aims to encourage employees of Marriot International to take care of themselves and, more importantly, the community.

Hotels that contributed included The Westin Jakarta, JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Marriott Executive Apartments - Mayflower, Jakarta, The Ritz Carlton Pacific Place, The Ritz Carlton Mega Kuningan, Keraton at The Plaza, The Hermitage Jakarta, Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City, Le Meridien Jakarta, Four Points by Sheraton Jakarta Thamrin, Aloft Jakarta.

In 2017, Run To Give marked the first joint event of Legacy Marriott and Legacy Starwood in Asia Pacific. Initiated in 2014 as the charity run of Starwood Hotels, 2018 marks the fifth year of this programme.
