Over the years, UVJF has gained a serious reputation, both locally and globally, among musicians, jazz addicts and sponsors as one of the most versatile and evolving stages in Indonesia. For Ubud residents, this is one of the most enjoyable music events in the 2018 calendar.

Founded to encourage and promote national jazz artists to perform for a global audience, UVJF is supported by the Ministry of Cooperatives & SME’s Indonesia, and the Embassy of Austria, the Embassy of the Netherlands, Institut Français d’Indonésie and Goethe-Institut, among others, in accordance with the Ubud Royal Family and community, to make this event a universal jazz reunion.

Jazz legends Idang Rasjidi Syndicate and Benny Green Trio are some of this year’s headliners. The programme will also feature a selection of talent that have blended together; legends and rising stars, regulars and newcomers, all under one banner - Jazz!!  Bandung’s Salamander Big Band, the Latin jazz pianist Nita Aartsen Trio, Bali-based master of groove Ito Kurdhi, and the 2017 ‘Inspiring Blind Jazz Pianist Award’ winner, M Ade Irawan.

A South Korean fusion jazz band, A-Fuzz, Australia’s composer, pianist and vocalist Gerard Kleijn, the Netherlands’ finest trumpeter and composer, Judith Nijland, and many more talents will jam together in this weekend-long jazz festival. For the first time, UVJF invited the winner of Youth Band Competition, a group of teenagers between 12 to 17 years old, JODA Band, to perform on one of the stages. Youth Band Competition is part of International Jazz Day Celebration, which is held every year on 30 April by UNESCO.
