The eighth 100% Manusia Film Festival will be organized from 30 August – 8 September 2024 in three cities: Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. Eighty-seven films from 24 countries will be screened, in which all of them can be watched for free and offline in 14 screening rooms in the 3 main cities. Beyond that, the public can join 11 fringe events at the festival for free.
The theme of the 100% Manusia Film Festival this year is ‘Togetherness’, as its Director Kurnia Dwijayanto explains that they wanted to embrace and invite people to come, meet together, exchange ideas, and create changes with the festival. As such, the festival ambassadors this time who were chosen to covey those aspirations were Geofanny Tambunan and Khozy Rizal, since they often produce art and film works that ‘touch on’ the sense of humanity in Indonesia.
In addition to feature films, the 100% Manusia Film Festival 2024 also features a compilation of short films submitted from all over Indonesia. Submissions were opened from 1 May to 30 June 2024, and with a total of 162 films submitted, 34 short films were selected to be screened during the festival. These films come from various leading universities in Indonesia, showcasing works that raise the theme of humanity from a fresh and bold perspective.
Moreover, the festival has partnered with the Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) for the first time, by the part of their pledge as 100% Manusia (or 100% Human in English) to believe in unboxing all individuals from labels, stereotypes, prejudices, and negative stigmas. During the festival, the KPK Kuningan Persada office, or the Anti-Corruption Learning Center (ACLC) will become one of the venues for film screenings and non-film events.
A film festival which prioritizes issues in human rights, diversity, encompassing gender and HIV/AIDS, 100% Manusia Film Festival aims to promote awareness on a wide range of these issues and create platforms of opening, sharing and exchanging creativities. Screening tickets can be obtained for free by coming directly to the film screening venue, one hour before the screening.
