The residence of The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Indonesia was the excellent venue for the Chaine’s May “Dinner Amicale”, and it proved to be a big hit for all those who participated in the Bohemian Garden Dinner.
Due to the limited space available for comfortable dining, The Ambassador’s Table Dinner was restricted to just 24 participants and was quickly sold out to a member-only crowd, who were entertained to cocktails and canapés in the cool of the comfortable residence before dining on the breezy terrace.
Chef Daniel Rys prepared a genuine home-cooked feast of traditional Czech specialties for members to savour, many for the first time. Daniel introduced each of his dishes with passions and deep knowledge of his country’s cuisine, which really helped the guests to appreciate each dish.
Ambassador Ivan Hotek, our host, took over for the explanation of the wines that were generously provided from his private cellar. His knowledge of each wine, its origins and its character proved a great success—as did the excellent wines themselves.

While Ambassador Hotek and Chef Daniel Rys provided the culinary entertainment for the evening, another treat in the form of musical entertainment was in store for all. Pianist Fero Aldiansyah, cellist Adele and Soprano Valentina combined brilliantly to produce brilliant interpretations of Czech composer Dvojak’s great music. Playing three marvellous tunes, the trio enthralled the guests with outstanding performances, culminating with an astonishing song by Valentina, who mastered the Czech pronunciation to the amazement of the host and hostess.
Speaking of the hostess, Mme Jitka Hotkova, herself created a beautiful venue for the dinner and provided beautiful floral decorations for the tables.
The evening wound down—or should I say up—with an irresistible digestive as and the Chaine ceremonial plates were presented to the host and chef to thank them for their great efforts.
The evening proved to be a great new experience for all.
