Oktoberfest has grown into one of the most anticipated and popular events for the residents of Jakarta – and we’re not surprised! Filled with ice-cold beers, meaty feasts and quirky folk music, this Bavarian folk festival has certainly made its mark in the capital. If you love a good brew and a plate of tasty bratwurst then you’ll be happy to hear that the Hotel Aryaduta will once again be hosting their annual celebration of this fine festival with the 28th Jakarta Oktoberfest 2016! Here’s what you need to know.

The event will be held on Thursday 15th – Friday 16th September 2016 at the hotel’s Festzel Ballroom, from 7pm – late ! Despite being held in September the Aryaduta’s take on Oktoberfest has a strong reputation as being one of the best, most authentic Oktoberfest events in Jakarta – and even Indonesia.

Oktoberfest fest started in Munich, Bavaria, in the early 1800’s, on the Theresienwiese (or Wiesn) fairgrounds where it is still held to this day. Since its first ever event, which celebrated the marriage of then Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, Oktoberfest has taken place in commemoration and preservation of Bavarian culture. This very culture is successfully transposed into the Aryaduta Ballroom every year, as they know that it’s more than just a big jug of beer that makes for a great Oktoberfest experience.

First of all, the ballroom is decorated into a true folk village, with the atmosphere similar to the ‘beer tent’s found in the Wiesn itself. Friendly staff are dressed in the traditional Bavarian costume, the Lederhosen für Buam (men) and Dirndl für Madl (women). The room will be filled with folk dance and song to complete the ambience, and who better than the 10-piece band from Bavaria, Garmisch-Partenkirchen Musikanten, who have been a huge feature in past events at the Hotel Aryaduta.

The food will certainly get meat-lovers craving for a bite into the smorgasbord of imported meats, sausages and wursts to be served at the Bavarian buffet: Goulash soups, pork knuckle, weisswurst, bretzn, Bavarian sweets and much, much more… During the two-days there will be numerous games and prizes, including 1 return ticket to Germany up for grabs and an adrenaline pumping mechanical riding competition… and yes, there will be beer! Free flow to be exact, so that the fun doesn’t stop. I think we can cheers to that!
