Staying true to their commitment to contribute in protecting the environment, Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia and Quiksilver Indonesia strengthen their commitment to work hand in hand with local government, communities, and environmental warriors to keep Bali’s beaches clean and safe.
Since 2007, the Bali Beach Clean Up (BBCU) crew have been cleaning the shorelines of Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Jimbaran and Kedonganan. Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia (CCAI) and Quiksilver Indonesia (QS) as the initiators, provide 3 garbage trucks, 4 beach tractors, 2 barber surf rakes, and 150 bins per year to support the programme. The 78 crews, a significant part of the programme, are local community members from the 5 beaches. Until today, BBCU has removed more than 31 million kilograms of rubbish.
While the regular Bali Beach Clean Up has been contributing some impacts, through Bali’s Big Eco Weekend (BBEW) Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia and Quiksilver Indonesia are trying to drive more supports from everyone in Bali to keep Bali beaches clean and green.
This year’s BBEW was held at Padma Beach, Legian, Bali, on Saturday (30/7). Inviting tourists, communities, and local governments, BBEW 2016 exhibits the progress of BBCU and inspires others to think and do what we can for a sustainable environment through various eco-activities, including Coke Kicks, #ROXYFitness, #ROXYFitness Yoga, lifesavers race, sand sculpture, beach clean-up, and the most-awaited sea turtle hatchlings release.
Coming as a special guest in BBEW 2016, Miss Earth Indonesia 2015 Belinda Pritasari expressed her full support for the event, “The spirit behind BBCU is important to be echoed, each of us can do what we can to protect the environment, and we can also work together consistently for maximum result. I appreciate the BBCU crews who work every day to clean the beaches in Bali, also the local government that fully supports the program, and of course, Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia and Quiksilver as the initiators. I hope that this great initiative can be sustained and inspire us all”.
Also seen among the attendees of BBEW 2016 were the Deputy Badung Regent I Ketut Suiasa, Head of Bali Environmental Agency A.A. Gede Alit Sastrawan, Head of Bali Tourism Board IB. Ngurah Wijaya, Head of Badung Tourism Agency Cokorda Raka Dharmawan, Qsurfing world champions Mark Richards, Tom Carroll, Matt Hoy, Rizal Tandjung, Ketut Menda, and Gemala Hanafiah.
