Singapore Intercultural School (SIS BV), formerly known as Singapore International School and based in South Jakarta, Bona Vista announced that it will have two academic intakes as of 2017.
The current academic intake is from January 2017 to December 2017 (for Southern Hemisphere universities/colleges) and the second from August 2017 to June 2018 (for Northern Hemisphere universities/colleges). This allows real flexibility to SIS students and parents who are looking for the best tertiary institutions in the city.
SIS is modeled after top schools in Singapore, adapting the Singapore curriculum as well as its teaching methodologies. Recent worldwide assessments by TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study), PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study), and the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) placed Singapore at the top of global rankings, effectively rating Singapore’s education system as the “best in the world”.
SIS uses an inquiry-based programme. In the early years, students focus on the foundation of Maths, Science and English amidst a well-balanced aesthetics and sports programme. Secondary school students then move into the Cambridge curriculum, while high school (Junior College or JC) students do the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. Students work to be fluent in regional languages like Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia. The SIS program is imbibed by important life and work skills through the PACE initiative: Perseverance, Analytical Thinking, Collaboration/Communication and Entrepreneurism.
SIS is passionate about its philosophy of “Inspired Learning for Inspired Futures”. It is this inherent passion that drove SIS to take the initiative of starting two academic intakes, the first of its kind in this part of the world by a school.
Formerly named Singapore International Schools, SIS Group of Schools was established in 1996 with its first premises in North Jakarta. Today, SIS Group of Schools operate eight schools across Indonesia: Singapore Intercultural School Bona Vista, SIS Pantai Indah Kapuk, SIS KelapaGading, SIS KebonJeruk, SIS Cilegon, SIS Semarang, SIS Palembang, and SIS Medan. The Singapore Intercultural School Bona Vista, which first opened its doors in 2002, is widely regarded as the flagship school of SIS Group of Schools.
