The second annual Spotify On Stage event on 12 October at Jakarta International Expo saw more than 7,000 fans gather in one spot to watch their favourite Spotify artists perform live. Sponsored by OPPO and Coca-Cola, the concert featured five artists with a huge fan base in Indonesia.
Anne Marie, Slot machine, Alan Walker, Stray Kids, and Tulus were among those performing this year.
Slot Machine Gets Things Started
Thai rock band, Slot Machine started the show with vocalist Karinyawat Durongjirakan, also known as Foet, belting out “MRT” from their 2016 album “Spin the World”.
The band invited the audience to jump and sway to their hit songs like “Sky Burning Stars”, and “And We Go”.
“It’s our first time performing in Indonesia. And we didn’t think we had fans in Indonesia. We will do our best for Indonesia,” Foet said earlier during a press conference. Indonesia ranks fourth among monthly listeners to Slot Machine, according to Spotify Southeast Asia.

Stray Kids fans went crazy for their Idol
Korean boy band sensation Stray Kids made their debut in Indonesia in front of their fans who were waiting for their idols to make their appearance. It was billed as the most awaited performance where nine members of the K-Pop bands performed their song “District 9” with full choreography.

Alan Walker Performs Closing Act
Norwegian record producer and DJ, Alan Walker ended Spotify on Stage with a lively performance. It was not his first time in Jakarta (he previously performed at SHVR Ground Festival last May) and his fans were dancing to his epic performance that ignited the event.
The 45-minute performance made everyone dance and jump along with popular hits like “Sing Me to Sleep”, “Darkside”, and “Faded”. Walker surprised the audience by inviting Norwegian singer-songwriter, Julie Bergan, to join him on stage to perform “Ignite”.
Formerly known as DJ Walkzz, Walker made a successful international career by launching and promoting his electronic and progressive house music in digital platform. Around 18.5 million listeners have streamed his music on Spotify; approximately 400,000 listeners are from Jakarta alone after Oslo and Mexico City. Walker’s appearance inspired many Indonesian fans to buy his merchandise and form a loyal fan base that even impersonates his looks.
“I think Spotify is a great platform to promote my music and statistically the artist will know where the fans who listen to his music are. That’s why I always love coming back to Jakarta,” Walker told NOW! JAKARTA.
