The Literature and Ideas Festival (LIFEs) is a biennial event held by the Salihara Community to discuss literature and ideas from world thinkers. The festival will feature a series of events ranging from discussions, lectures, music, theatre, film, and culinary, to exhibitions. At this year’s festival, LIFEs has a French and Frankophone theme with the slogan Mon Amour! (My love!). The event, which runs from 5-12 August 2023, will feature a number of public figures and well-known writers, such as Asmara Abigail, Avianti Armand, Jean Coteau, Monita Tahalea, Zack Rogow, and dozens of others.
Apart from presenting discussions, lectures, and literary performances, LIFEs 2023 also presents an exhibition entitled Les Liaisons Amoureuses (Love Affair) which depicts the intimate relationship between Indonesia and the Frankophone country which is manifested in a variety of literary, comic and research books which have been translated into Indonesian.
In the exhibition, which will be held from 05-25 August 2023, visitors will see a collection of popular Frankophone comics such as The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé, Asterix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, to the latest graphic novel, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.
You can also enjoy other programs such as a Literary Dinner which presents French specialties and Frankophone countries while accompanied by poetry readings by selected poets.
