On Saturday, 25 November 2023, Nord Anglia School Jakarta (NAS) held their annual community event, the NAS Bazaar, bringing students, parents and faculty together at their campus in Jeruk Perut, South Jakarta. Always a highlight of the year, the 2023 Bazaar was considered a hit amongst all who attended.
Visitors, who included the school community, wider expat and residential communities, descended upon NAS Jakarta from 9.30am, where the school grounds had been prepared for a day of eating, drinking, shopping, playing and socialising. High quality local businesses were involved in the food and beverage area and shopping hall so there was something for everyone to enjoy during the day.
Other than the ever-important community get-together, the focus of the bazaar is also to provide fun practical experiences for children in a casual setting, across all ages. Creative activities like food decorating and arts and crafts were available; there were fun competitions like the ‘Kerupuk Challenge’ where children raced to devour a dangling rice cracker.
Another objective of the bazaar was to give opportunities for students to actually host their own stalls and independently offer their own experiences, including one created by Year 6 students who developed a treasure map whilst others sold their craft items made during some of the school’s extracurricular groups.

Despite the heavy rains, children and adults alike enjoyed the stimulating offerings of the bazaar, and many stayed until the afternoon with so many different activities to join and friends to meet. One of the busiest activities of the bazaar was “Threw the Wet Sponge”, where the Principal of NAS and Head of Primary, Ms. Jo, got soaked for the amusement of the students.
