above the Cloud of Brexit Indonesia the Silver Lining

Since BritCham Indonesia took over the market access support role from Embassy (DIT) some five years ago, it has taken a leading role in 10 roadshows around the U.K. These roadshows are designed to properly profile and promote ASEAN in general as a trading block. In particular the purpose for BritCham Indonesia is to promote the vast opportunities of our host country and to assist British SMEs to work out how they can participate in the growth and development of this 4th largest country in the world.

At these 10 roadshows over the last 5 years, BritCham Executive Director, Chris Wren has sat with +/- 1000 companies in a speed- dating, business clinic format. This had resulted in +/- 160 visit programs being organized and executed by the dedicated BritCham team (OBN unit).

Board member, Ryan Chew provides guidance for this unit. "The work this team undertake is critical to the first steps needed for successful market entry. It is also pleasing to notice how many of these ‘newbies’ to Indonesia have been able to engage with our members. This has provided added-value to members who have been able to pitch for business and deepen their networks”.

The map shows the stops in the most recent roadshow that also took in the devolved British countries, Wales and Scotland. The photo above is taken in Glasgow where BiSEA was supported by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Scottish Enterprise (aka SDI).
