A visual arts exhibition, “Art Moments Jakarta”, is set to hold its inaugural fair in Jakarta from 3 – 5 May 2019 at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel and Gandaria City Shopping Centre. Art Moments Jakarta is expected to be the first interactive art exhibit.
Art enthusiasts will see the works from local and international artists, including Christine Ay Tjoe, Handiwirman Saputra, Fernando Botero, Ju Ming, Kaws, Marc Quinn, Robert Indiana, and Jean Mitchel Othoniel. One of the pieces, Othoniel’s “Double Lacans Knot”, was once displayed in the Brooklyn Museum and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. It is now on permanent display at Sheraton Grand Jakarta and Gandaria City Mall.
Around 50 galleries are expected to take part in this event, showing some of the most sophisticated works for artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts to see and explore. Art Moments 2019 will host an exceptional sculpture show for the first time, by top 20 renowned international and Indonesian artists. Their sculptures will be located at the atrium of Gandaria City Mall, among the international museum quality sculptures publicly displayed at the mall.
Leo Silitonga, the Fair Director of Art Moments Jakarta works with Dr. Sendy Widjaja as the Chief Operating Officer for Art Moments Jakarta to set up the team consists of art professionals and experienced fair organisers in Jakarta and Singapore.
Silitonga noted that Sheraton Grand Jakarta and Gandaria City Mall will host of the fair since it known as a strategic venue for international art exhibitions and already been a home for numerous impressive artworks coming from museums worldwide. Jakarta Art Moments is expected to draw 30,000 visitors in the inaugural fair.
“Jakarta needs an art fair. Such an event can also trigger more supply and demand, more engagement in visual arts marketplace”, said Silitonga who is an experienced art promoter and has organised more than 10 visual arts exhibitions in Jakarta and Singapore.
Art Moments Jakarta aims to generate public engagement by creating more interactive art where the exhibit is specially designed to let people experience art without having to be in a museum or gallery. Visitors are also invited to talk about their experience of Art Moments Jakarta on social media.
Not be left out of the event. Art for Children will also be one of the central attractions at Art Moments where children are introduced to the art world through shapes and colours. Educational institutions, schools, and universities are involved in the programme. Art for Children will bridge the connection between art and education, especially for students in Jakarta.
