The First Edition of Italian Film Festival

The Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Jakarta proudly present a selection of high quality Italian new films awarded at the most important international festivals. Among these films: Volevo Nascondermi (Hidden Away) by Giorgio Diritti, winner of the Silver Bear for Best Actor at Berlinale 2020,  Padrenostro by Claudio Noce, winner of the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor at Venice International Film Festival 2020 and Silver Ribbon 2021 for the best plot.

The first edition of the Italian Film Festival presents nine recent films of new wave Italian directors and screenwriters such as Giorgi Diritti, the D'Innocenzo Brothers, Francesco Bruni, Giuseppe Bonito, Claudio Noce, Mauro Mancini, Pietro Castellito, Phaim Bhuiyan and Edoardo Falcone. Top level actors such as Kim Rossi Stuart, Alessandro Gassman, Pierfrancesco Favino, Elio Germano, and Marco Giallini and actresses such as Paola Cortellesi, Giulietta Rebeggiani, Lorenza Indovina and Barbara Ronchi starring in these films. 

Thanks to this selection the Indonesian audience will have the chance to enjoy a contemporary portray of Italian Cinema.

A hybrid Press Conference was held on 2 December 2021 with an introduction by Maria Battaglia, Director of Italian Cultural Institute Jakarta and Cultural attaché of the Embassy of Italy in Indonesia and was attended by Cristina Cassano, Project Manager of Cinecittà and Gianluca Guzzo, Director of Mymovies as speakers and the virtual presence of Francesco Bruni, Director of “Cosa sarà (Everything’s Gonna Be Alright, 2020). Special thanks to Italian film distributors: Giulia Casavecchia of True Colours, Chiara Sortino of Fandango, Elena Romano of Rai Com, Catia Rossi of Vision, Geremia Biagiotti of Intramovies and The Match Factory.

The Opening of the First Edition of Italian Film Festival will take place on December 4, 2021, both events will take place at Italian Cultural Institute Jakarta.

The nine films of the Festival will be accessible from 5 to 11 December 2021. All films are produced between 2019 and 2021, will be presented in Italian version with English subtitles and available only on MYmovies platform http://www.mymovies.it/ondemand/iff-indonesia/
