The Hispanic heritage is a hybrid form of arts, cultures and music, and the influences of Italian opera and the European piano repertoire have vital impacts on the development of Latin arts and music. A numerous catalogue of works from styles like abstract folklore, experimental, neotypical, neoromantic, expressionist, indigenist, impressionist, serialism, romantic and contemporary are of a great example of the Mexican music for piano solo.
With respect to Latin music for Hispanic communities and other arts and music lovers in and around Jakarta, the Embassy of Mexico and Colombia in Indonesia together with the Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ) presented a delicate art of a classical voice and piano recital entitled ArtSong Duo, which took place at the Mexico’s residence in Jakarta. An extraordinary, exotic and enticing atmosphere of romanticism, folklore and modern sounds from Mexico was the highlight of the evening depicted in the selection of Pastels-Carteles.
Presenting Irma Enriquez who hails from the city of Mexico, an incredible classical pianist whose professional career involves being the accompanist of the Choir of the Asturian Center in Mexico (1989 – 1991) with presentations in the Palace of Fine Arts and Palacio de Minería and a member of the Music Teachers Association of New South Wales. She also received the Australian Hispanic Women Business Network’s Annual Award (2010) in recognition of her outstanding achievement in the promotion of her Hispanic heritage in Australia.
Coming together with Irma Enriquez was Paola Andrea Monroy Mantaño who comes from Colombia. Being one of the most sheerly beautiful soprano soloists to have ever come to Indonesia, Paola sang a series of classical Latin music and mesmerised the stage with her power-packed performance. She is currently undertaking the master’s degree in music from Australian Institute of Music (Surry Hills) under Wendy Dixon’s coaching. Paola has become an active performer at the Cushion Concerts series at Chime along with Divas on Demand, Operasphere and Nella Luce Studios with whom she regularly performs since 2015.
