Every August, Indonesians always feel ecstatic to celebrate the country’s independence Day. Festival Mesin Waktu capitalised on that.

On 17 August 2019, ISMAYA and Generasi 90an successfully held their event, Festival Mesin Waktu (Time Machine Festival), a festival where Independence day festivities meet the good old memories of the 90s. Taking place in JIEXPO Kemayoran, there were foods, music, attraction and even traditional independence day competition.

The organiser divided the arena into seven zones: Music, Play, Watch, Museum, Streetfood, Comfort and Karaoke. In the Music Zone, guests were entertained by live performances from local musicians such as Dewa 19 with Ari Lasso and Dul Jaelani, Glenn Fredly, P-Project, Gamaliel, Rendy Pandugo and many others. Play Zone ignited the old gamer soul of the guests with old-school arcade and console games including ATARI and SEGA.

Watch Zone offered short clips of 90s Indonesian soap opera as well as old cartoon and Latin TV shows. In the Streetfood Zone, classic food and drinks were available for purchase. Various memorabilia from the 90s decade including pager, walkman and old magazines were provided in the Museum Zone. In the Karaoke Zone, the visitors were allowed to sing their favourite 90s songs like they used to do in the past. As for Comfort Zone, the organiser provided bean bags for the guests to relax.

What’s better to reignite your past memories other than singing your favourite old songs?

Festival Mesin Waktu is designed to be an arena where people can rekindle fun memories of the past. In their first event in 2017, Festival Mesin Waktu had only five zones: Music, Play, Watch, Streetfood and Museum with NAIF, Base Jam and Potret as the highlighted performers in the event.
