The British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham)’s  Ministerial Series is back. This time we helped answer  questions related to development of skills and regulations regarding foreign workers. We were joined by the Ministry of Manpower Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri, and H.E. Moazzam Malik, British Ambassador to Indonesia, ASEAN and Timor-Leste.

The event, which took place on 20 September, established a new and collaborative relationship that recognises what UK businesses are doing —and can do— for Indonesia.

In the first session, Hanif noted  that the Ministry is tasked with human resource development, especially with regard to technical skills. He invited British companies to support and ensure the quality of human resources in Indonesia. H.E. Moazzam Malik supported the statement and said the UK has partnered with the Ministry with regard to education. He added that the skills foreign workers bring to Indonesian companies should be seen as an investment.

In the second session, the Ministry of Manpower held a workshop on the procedures concerning the employment of foreign workers by way of Presidential Regulation Number 20 of 2018 and Ministerial Regulation Number 10 of 2018. The Minister discussed ways to improve competitiveness while simplifying the procedure. The question and answer session saw active participation and was moderated by our partners, SSEK Indonesian Legal Consultant.
