A Time to Shine for Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta

After six years in the hospitality industry, Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta has proven its quality by winning numerous awards over the last two years. Along the journey in becoming one of the leading hotels in Indonesia, Royal Ambarrukmo has extensively improved the quality of its facilities and service, and has thus turned into the national and international front gate of Yogyakarta.

At the latest Indonesia Travel & Tourism Awards (ITTA) 2017/2018, Royal Ambarrukmo won in the categories "Indonesia Leading Independent Hotel" and "Indonesia Leading 5 Star Hotel - Yogyakarta". The winners are determined by the Board of Advisors of ITTA Foundation through online voting.

This is not the first time that Royal Ambarrukmo received recognition from the hospitality industry. The 5-star hotel has received a total of 14 awards from prestigious institutions and organizations, both national and international, in 2016 and 2017. Competing with hundreds of world-class hotels and resorts, Royal Ambarrukmo earned Best Classic/Heritage Hotel in Asia Pacific/Global Hotel Awards 2017-2018, Traditional Luxury Hotel of The Year – Indonesia in Luxury Travel Guide 2017, and Best Conference Venue Hotel in Indonesia in The 2017 Haute Grandeur Global Hotel Awards.

Other achievements include the world's best classical sanctuary hotel, hotel with superior conference facilities, as well as certification of international culinary safety standards and Most Valued Business (MVB). In terms of customer recognition, Royal Ambarrukmo received overall high scores among the guest reviews on and Agoda.

Ian Cameron, General Manager of Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta stated that the hotel’s achievements are also a testament to the city of Yogyakarta. “All the recognitions we have achieved in 2016 and 2017 are proof of the Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta’s consistency as an independent hotel with international standards,” Cameron said.

As a tourism representative of Yogyakarta, Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta is committed to raise the level of local culture to a global level and also increase the length of stay of tourists in Yogyakarta by highlighting local heritage attraction and events. Royal Ambarrukmo is often appointed by the Ministry of Tourism to campaign for cultural preservation, such as Jempahan Jemuwah Sonten, Patehan, and Jodhang Rijsttafel.

Entering 2018, the hotel has launched the Royal Kids Club and is currently working on a new concept for the Punika Deli coffee shop. The renovation of The Royal Restaurant is underway, while the hotel also works on enhancing the property’s security features.
