BRBCA 2018 Recognises Some of the City’s Best Dining Establishments

Restaurateurs, chefs, hoteliers and guests from the city's f&b circles gathered for the ninth annual  Best Restaurant, Bar and Cafe Awards Gala on 18 September.

The event, which recognised the commitment and dedication of the city’s broad culinary world to producing delectable cuisine, was held in the newly opened Golden Ballroom at The Sultan Hotel & Residences.

69 custom china-bone plates from Wedgewood (PT. Doulton) were handed out to winners from 20 main categories which were based on community votes.. There were also seven “Editor’s Choice” awards chosen by the NOW! Jakarta Editorial team and two awards for sustainable restaurants and hotels.

BRBCA 2018 was generously supported by American Express, PT Doulton, The Sultan Hotel and Residence Jakarta, Garuda Indonesia, San Miguel, Two Islands, Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia.

Perriz Azwir, Director, Business Development Partner Card Services Asia of American Express joined Chef Bara Pattiradjawane and Stephan Pitterling of PT Doulton in handing out the award plates to the winners.

This year, NOW! Jakarta recognised the efforts of both a restaurant and a hotel in working toward environmental sustainability. Potato Head Family received the award for Sustainable Restaurant and Hotel Shangri La Jakarta won the award for Sustainable Hotel.

To give away the awards to these recipients, Bijaksana Junerosano, Founder of Waste4Change attended the event. Sano also spoke about his organisation’s work with corporate partners toward achieving zero-waste targets.
