Begining this year, two hotels in Jakarta appointed new general manager to run the hospitality operation.
Bernhard Kammerlohr, New GM of grandkemang Jakarta
Grandkemang Jakarta recently welcomed Bernhard Kammerlohr as its new General Manager. Mr. Kammerlohr has been exploring the flavors of the hospitality world for more than 29 years. He has spent most of his career at Marbella Group. Before his official arrival at grandkemang, he was the GM at Grand Sahid Jaya Jakarta.
Mr. Kammerlohr has worked in the region of Southeast Asia for more than two decades, including at the Meliá Purosani Hotel in Yogyakarta, the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Bangkok, the Meliá Hanoi in Vietnam, the Gran Meliá Jakarta - Sol Meliá’s flagship hotel in Asia - and the Sol Elite Marbella Hotel in Anyer. In 2009 the management contract with Sol Melia ended, and he was appointed as VP Operations by the owner to overlook all Marbella properties in Indonesia.
When asked about his work philosophy, Mr. Kammerlohr simply said, “Always giving the best. That’s what I believe”.
Sjefke Jansen, New GM of Indonesia Kempinski
Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta has appointed a new general manager. The industry veteran Sjefke Jansen brings his award-winning hospitality experience to the historical hotel.
Jansen started his career as a kitchen trainee in Germany, before being posted in Sydney, Cape Town, the Maldives and Singapore, where he worked as Food & Beverages Manager, overseeing 19 restaurants at the iconic Raffles Hotel. His first general manager position was at The Oberoi Mauritius in 2006.
Prior to his move to Jakarta, the father of three worked as General Manager for Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St Petersburg, Russia.
“I feel blessed to have been offered this position at the most iconic hotel in one of the most vibrant cities in Asia,” he said. “I call Singapore home, but Jakarta is bursting with energy and passion and is always on the move, although it has a real heart and soul that reflects its fascinating history.”
