In preparation for its Indonesian debut this September 2021, luxury hospitality brand, The Langham, Jakarta, has appointed seasoned hotelier, Gaylord Lamy, as its General Manager.
Lamy is a French native with over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry and brings over extensive experience in food and beverage and operations. He’s worked in some of the most culturally diverse cosmopolitan cities including Hong Kong, Paris, Boston and Chicago.
“I am truly delighted to lead this beautiful, brand new hotel in such a dynamic capital city,” said Lamy. “The Langham is poised to be the best luxury hotel in Jakarta and I look forward to introducing our brand's legendary service culture and hospitality to both business and leisure travellers when we open.”
Lamy is no stranger to the Langham brand; he has been a part of the Langham Hospitality Group since 2004 in Hong Kong, where he moved up to the ranks of Director of Food and Beverage at The Langham, Boston, before moving to The Langham, Chicago (frequently named one of the best hotels in North America by Forbes, Conde Nast Traveler and Travel+Leisure) as Director of Operations. His more recent role as General Manager at The Langham, Sydney, was pivotal in placing the hotel as a notable luxury hotel in the city.
Before his long-standing career with the Langham brand, Lamy began his hospitality career in Paris with several historic hotels including Le Meridien Etoile and Hotel Meurice.
He received his food and wine service degree from the Versailles-based Lycee Tecomah as well as in bartending from Lycee Auguste Escoffier in Cergy-Pontoise. He is fluent in three languages, namely English, French and Spanish, and is a running, yoga and tennis enthusiast.
