After one year of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Indonesia, where mass social gatherings and events are restricted, The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta is now permitted to host weddings once again.
This follows after the hotel passed all of the health and safety protocols implemented by the DKI Jakarta and Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf), becoming one of the first hotels in Jakarta to do so. The five-star hotel also attained legal authorisation to host wedding receptions amidst the PSBB period.
Fintan O’Doherty, General Manager of The Sultan Hotel & Residence, explained “We achieved the determination of No. 418/2020 through a rigorous and structured process. We went through the initial stage from carrying out supervision of the application file, field review conducted by the joint team for health protocol costs in the tourism business sector Disparekraf and the Provincial Health Office of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.”
To maintain social distancing, Disparekraf implemented restrictions to the maximum capacity of venues to 25% of normal capacity. Throughout the pandemic, The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta has successfully and consistently applied the health protocols in its daily operations including the cleanliness, safety and environmental sustainability in all areas of the hotel, under the guidelines for the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) of the tourism industry.
In addition to obtaining the CHSE Hotel Scope certification by the Superintending Company of Indonesia (Sucofindo) in early November, the hotel has also organised an internal and official COVID-19 Task Force to enforce and maintain health protocols in the hotel area at all times. The health and safety of its guests remain a priority, and these measures have been applied to give guests comfort and peace of mind, especially those holding wedding receptions at the hotel.
In regards to weddings and the MICE business, the hotel has a new Golden Ballroom where many events have taken place, including three live Presidential Debates for the 2019 Indonesian Presidential election. Additionally, there are several halls and outdoor venues including the Lagoon Garden, Kudus Hall, Kudus Garden, and the new Sultan Pizzeria. Before the pandemic, the Golden Ballroom had a capacity of up to 2000 pax for a standing wedding reception.
