When heritage and artistry meet, something extraordinary is bound to emerge – such as The Balvenie Rare Marriages Collection. Comprising the Twenty-Five, Thirty, and Forty expressions, it is the perfect blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance. Created under the expert hands of Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, this collection is set to impress even the most discerning whisky connoisseurs eager to explore a world where complexity and depth are crafted with meticulous precision.

The essence of this collection lies in a unique process known as “marriage,” which takes place in Traditional Oak Marrying Tuns. Here, Stewart—whose decades-long career has shaped The Balvenie’s legacy—blends whisky to create unique flavours, with each expression in the Rare Marriages series offering its own distinct character.

Starting with The Balvenie Twenty-Five, containing 48% ABV, this whisky is aged for 25 years, with non-chill filtration and natural colour. It exemplifies a blend of fruity and oaky notes, crafted by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE. This expression features a harmonious combination of European and American oak casks, offering flavours such as bold vanilla, crystallised ginger, and sweet honey. The presentation reflects its depth, with a rich burgundy case that transitions to a lighter hue, and gold foil rings indicating each year of maturation.

The Balvenie Thirty, aged for 30 years with a 44.2% ABV, is noted for its silky texture and sweet, honeyed profile. It uses a mix of American and European oak casks to achieve a whisky of remarkable sweetness and complexity. Tasting notes highlight rich honey, mellow oak, and hints of candied orange peel, presented in a luxurious goat leather cylinder with embossed patterns that symbolise the evolving flavours.

The Balvenie Forty is a cask strength expression, aged for 40 years, showcasing the boldest character in the range. Stewart’s careful selection of rare casks from American and European oak produces a richly sweet and refined whisky. It features intense honeyed oak, rich fruit, and warm notes of ginger and citrus. The presentation, in an oak-based structure with stained rings, visually represents the complex flavours that develop over time. Tasting notes include honey and orange marmalade on the nose, with flavours of orange blossom, candied ginger, and a warm, elegant finish.

Jyri Pylkkänen, Regional Malts Brand Ambassador for Southeast Asia, sums up the essence of this collection: “The Rare Marriages Collection is a true embodiment of The Balvenie’s unwavering commitment to excellence. Each whisky in this range is the result of a meticulous blending process, resulting in depth and complexity that offer a taste experience like no other.”
