Our first 2017 South Jakarta Baillage Dinner Amical was held at the Glass House, Ritz Carlton Pacific Place on the 28th of February, 2017, under the detailed eye of Linda Tan, Bailli South Jakarta. The Glass House features glamorous glass encased architecture with touches of gold, sparkling chandeliers and a beautiful lush garden as backdrop.
The dinner, showcasing modern Indonesian gourmet cuisine, was a collaboration between Chef Sean Macdougall of Ritz Carlton and our very own celebrity chef Petty Elliott, who also serves on the Council together with Farah Farahan.
Chef Sean is an Australian national with over 20 years of experience specializing in multi-cuisine restaurants and Banqueting. He has worked as Executive Chef in big chain hotels all over the world including Ritz Carlton Sharm El Sheik in Egypt, The Shangri-La Jakarta, Park Hyatt Johannesburg, Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Petty is a self-taught Indonesian chef and one of Indonesia’s foremost food writers. She represented Indonesia during the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2014 and 2015. She was the guest chef for the world gourmet summit in Singapore in 2016. Petty just finished a 4-months assignment at Nihiwatu resort in Sumba, which is currently ranked the number 1 resort in the world, as consultant and acting executive chef. Her latest cookbook “Jakarta Bites” has won many prestigious awards and was recently nominated as best Street Food Book in the world.
Both chefs are forward thinking and share the same passion: to get more creative with local ingredients and to elevate Indonesian cuisine to the next level. Each course was unique and beautifully presented, paired very well with the wines, resulting in a superb dining experience!
