In celebration of the rich culture and diverse cuisine of Indonesia, Shangri-La Jakarta organised an exquisite culinary programme – the Aceh Culinary Festival – a three-day event that took place from 5-7 August 2022 at the prominent hotel’s SATOO restaurant. The exciting event featured an eclectic range of the best delicacies and culinary specialities from Indonesia’s westernmost province. The Aceh Culture and Tourism Department supported the event with the aim to introduce and give exposure to the wonders of the archipelago to the world.
The event was kicked off on 5 August 2022 with a special Saman Dance performance, an energetic dance that has long been associated with Aceh’s cultural heritage. Guests were also able to capture memorable moments in the 3D street-food-themed photo booth located in SATOO’s lobby area.
The Aceh province is famed for its dynamic culture, where its local heritage is influenced by both the Arabic and Indian cultures. During the three-day festival, guests were spoiled with a spice-dominated epicurean journey. To ensure that guests enjoyed the authentic flavours of Aceh culinary delicacies, SATOO’s culinary team collaborated with Aceh’s culinary entrepreneurs in Jakarta to produce an array of authentic delights from appetisers to desserts. The tantalising dishes include Gado-Gado Aceh. Rujak Aceh, Bubur Kanji, Tirom – Kerang Masak Kuah, Rendang Aceh, Gulai Kambing Aceh, Sie Reuboh, Kuah Leumak, Ikan Keumamah, Kuah Sie Itiek, and the famous Ayam Tangkap, just to name a few.
Moreover, SATOO also prepared a wide range of enticing Aceh specialities to please the palates of the most discerning palates with the likes of Roti Jala Durian Kinca, Timphan (a popular dessert with banana filling in Aceh), Kue Ade, Boh Rorom (also known as Klepon Aceh), Kue Bhoi and more. They also offered a selection of staple beverages such as Kopi Aceh, Kopi Sanger, Kopi Tubruk and Teh Tarik. Guests were able to enjoy the Aceh Culinary Festival with a price starting from IDR 508,000++ per person.
Additionally, guests were able to discover the tradition, culture and history of Acehnese cuisine through a series of photo exhibitions located at SATOO Deli.
