Raffles Jakarta celebrated British dining experience at The Dining Room with award-winning chef, Kirk Westaway.
On 19 February 2020, Raffles Jakarta hosted one-star Singapore Michelin Guide 2019, Kirk Westaway all the way from JAAN, an internationally renowned restaurant located at the iconic Swissôtel The Stamford in Singapore.
Born in Southwest Britain, Chef Kirk’s culinary direction has infused JAAN with a heartfelt natural flavours of England, with which he is greatly fond of growing up. The prolific chef’s philosophy is Reinventing British, reflected through his selection of seasonal British ingredients sourced from some of the world’s best gourmet suppliers. Complemented by personalised bespoke tableware and specially curated furniture design, Chef Kirk and his team devoutly pioneers the reinvention of British cuisines.
The restaurant takeover was held at The Dining Room, fully utilising the space’s open-kitchen concept to pique the curiousity of diner. Guests were treated to Fish & Chips and Beetroot Meringue for welcome snacks, in addition to Porter Beer Welcome Cocktail.
Roast Potato & Leak Soup paired with a Sauvignon Blanc 2017 kicked off the experience that evening, followed by a tantalising spread of Crab, Caviar perfected by Chenin Blanc 2018. Prior to the main course was a delectable plate of Kimedai, Carrots, Saffron, Langoustine enjoyed with Chardonnay 2016.
Main course came in the form of an exquisite Wylarah Wagyu Short Rib, Potato, Mushroom Soy paired with Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, which was absolutely brilliant as its tannins met the perfectly cooked short rib. The dining experience came to a decadent end with an Ivory Chocolate Caramel dessert paired with Moscatel 2018.
