The Chaine des Rotisseurs Jakarta dinner on 14 May was definitely one of the group’s most exciting events this year. The dinner took place at Museum Macan, a state-of-the-art modern art museum in Jakarta, the first institution of its kind in Indonesia.
The event couldn’t have been arranged at a better time, because the museum is currently displaying the first large scale exhibition of legendary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s work that includes over 130 of her works that span almost 70 years of artistic practice.
Guests enjoyed an hour of privately guided tour by Aaron Seeto, the director of the museum before cocktails started. It was an amazing experience having the museum to ourselves, dining in this elegant, art-filled space, serenaded by a classical duet throughout the evening. The food featured the finest meats from the state of Victoria, Australia, especially and kindly supported by the Victorian State government.
Naturally, the organising committee hand picked Chef Sean Macdougall, an Australian native, executive chef of the Ritz Carlton, Pacific Place, to create an exquisite menu inspired by his home country. The wines, again supported by Victoria State, were also the very best ones from Victorian vineyards.
A sincere thank you to Brett Stevens, Commissioner to Indonesia, Government of Victoria for their generosity in supporting our Chaine dinner with the best of Victoria’s produce. A special thank you to our Jakarta chapter bailli, Alistair Speirs and councils Michelle Somerville, Fabrice Mini and Linda Tan for making tonight’s event a truly memorable event.
