It seems that Menteng just will not stop rolling out the best hangout spots. Just last week, a new addition was unveiled in this chic neighbourhood called Emilia Bar Italiano. Though the name speaks of Mediterranean charm, from the entrance you will be met in a setting that takes you to a classic, almost rustic American bar interior. With rich half wooden-panelled walls and velvet booths, this makes a warm place to come to after long hours of work meetings in cold, stale skyscraper buildings. But if you want to go for something more open, there is also a spacious dining room inside a glasshouse that offers a touch of al fresco dining without leaving the comforts of its cool and serene ambiance.

For its menu, Emilia takes Italian staples and elevates them with premium ingredients and crafty ideas. The menu is nothing short of mouthwatering. Start your meal with Mussels Mariniere—plump black mussels bathed in white wine, served with fresh focaccia for dipping. For those in the mood for something a bit more adventurous, try the Lumache featuring escargot baked with mushrooms, spinach, green butter, and topped with herb crumbs for a satisfying crunch.

Emilia’s handcrafted pastas like Lobster Gratiné Linguine is the star of the show, boasting delicate linguine topped with rich, golden lobster gratin and a splash of white wine. For something a bit heartier, the Fettuccine Spinach Salmone delivers creamy goodness with its combination of salmon, mushroom, and boscaiola cream sauce. For the pizza lovers, Amante Della Carne is a delightful combination of meatball, beef ragu, beef bacon, grana padano with pomodoro and mozzarella.

No Italian-inspired bar would be complete without a curated selection of wines and cocktails. Emilia’s drinks menu offers everything from classic favourites to bold, inventive concoctions. Their signature Emilia Aged Negroni blends Dry Gin, Sloe Gin, Campari, and Sweet Vermouth into a smooth, rich cocktail that lingers long after the last sip. For something a little more playful, the Coconut Pandan Martini adds an Asian-inspired twist, with vodka fat washed in coconut oil and pandan-infused vermouth for an exotic yet familiar flavour. The Paddle Pop cocktail is a fun and creative addition that will take you back to your childhood with a delightful mix of lemongrass tequila, passion fruit, orange, and bubble gum.
