The meal began with shrimp vol au vent, slim spring rolls filled with succulent shrim and vegetables as diners gathered in the patio area. Despite the rain, the Hatten Tunjung Sparkling Brut was a refreshing treat and matched perfectly with the appetiser.

Guests then took their seats inside and were served a dish of mango chicken salad with balsamic dressing. The dish was paired with Two Islands Sauvignon Blanc 2017 which helped bring out the notes in the flavours of the salad. This was followed by a tomato soup and garlic bread with which guests drank the Two Islands Reserve Chardonnay 2014. The dish was delicious in its simplicity and the wine’s citrus notes were a delightful combination.

The main course was a bit gutsier with a grilled Angus beef tenderloin with sauteed vegetables and fries. This was accompanied by a black pepper sauce and guests were served a Two Islands Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 alongside. The red wine complemented the flavours of the beef beautifully and was the perfect accompaniment.

For dessert there was dark chocolate cake which was rich and had multiple layers of flavour. Paired with Hatten Pino de Bali, the rich textures and depth of flavour of the chocolate were certainly highlighted.

To finish, guests were offered a plate of three different kinds of cheese, mild and soft, along with fruit and nuts and a Two Islands Reserve Shiraz 2014, which rounded off the meal perfectly.
