Last month, Indonesian students returned to the country with pride after winning the trophy from the Tournament of Minds in Bangkok, Thailand. The team placed first in the language and social science competition.

Tournament of Minds (ToM) is a competition for elementary and junior high school students which has been conducted regularly for more than 30 years with a primary focus on sharpening the creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication skills of students. 500 students participated in the tournament—from 21 schools in 5 countries. Beacon Academy, a school located in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, was the sole representative from Indonesia.

Students from Beacon Academy placed first in five categories and were also named the best overall team in the whole competition.

The Beacon Royal team placed first in the language competition and elementary level literature. They also won first place in the high school level for literature.

In the middle school level, Beacon Knights won the first place in the social science competition.

Beacon of Hope took home the trophy for its place in the science and technology competition for elementary school level and Beaconators beat the other competitors by winning the first place in the technical and mathematics competitions at the primary school level.

One team from Indonesia also won the award as "Best Overall Winner”.

The winning team will participate in the upcoming competition in October 2018 in Australia.
