The NOW! JAKARTA Schools Competition

The NOW! Jakarta School Competition (NJSC) was created to trigger children's creativity in painting, drawing, taking photographs and writing essays by bringing students from  many school together in one fun, creative event. The idea is to not only breed healthy competition but motivate children to pursue the arts and really exercise their creative potential.

The NOW! Jakarta team received a total of more then 500 artworks from 14 different schools around Jabodetabek. They were Gandhi Memoriam Intercontinental School, Beacon Academy, Tzu Chi School, Singapore Intercultural School Bona Vista, British School Jakarta, Sinarmas World Academy, SD Kristen 10 Penabur Jakarta, Binus School Serpong, Global Sevilla School Pulomas, Binus School Bekasi, Ichthus School, Sekolah Kristen Calvin, SMA Negeri 89 Jakarta and Raffles Christian School Pondok Indah.

The NOW! Jakarta School Competition is open for all students within three age groups : between 5 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13 to 16 years old and the participants had to with select a theme to compete from the following list of subjects: Dreams, Heroes, Celebration, My Home, Under the Sea and Outer Space. Meaning that their work, be it drawing, painting, photography or writing had to clearly reflect that theme.

Points were awarded for creativity, technical merit and a good reflection of the theme, and the judges considered the standards of the works to be quite exceptional this year. Due credit goes to the teachers and parents who encouraged this excellent work.

Of course, we thank our prizes sponsors, who ensured the success of the event, they are Jakarta Aquarium and Taman Safari Indonesia who kindly donated the prizes for the winners to add to those provided by Now! Jakarta.

And after being postponed for a full year, due to Covid restrictions, and a flood which swamped our office earlier this year, finally we are proud to announce the result of the NOW! Jakarta School Competition 2020/2021, which were decided after a combination of onsite and online judging. Please click here to go to the list of winners and their works on our website.
Congratulations to all the winners and their schools. And on behalf of the competition organisers we sincerely apologise for the long delay in announcing the winners.
