Mary Poppins at Global Jaya

The stage at Global Jaya School transformed into a world of whimsy and wonder as Mary Poppins Jr. delighted audiences over its two-night run from 14–15 February. This vibrant adaptation of the beloved Disney classic proved that with a spoonful of sugar (and a great deal of talent), anything is possible.

Led by the school’s Arts Department, the production featured a cast of 34 Primary and Secondary School students who brought the magic of Cherry Tree Lane to life. Under the direction of Ibu Muti, the young performers delivered a spectacle filled with soaring vocals, dazzling choreography, and impeccable storytelling.

From the moment Mary Poppins (played with charm and confidence by Maria Nadindra descended onto the Banks family home, the audience was spellbound. The production’s spirited renditions of classics like A Spoonful of Sugar, Feed the Birds, and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious had the crowd humming along, while the dynamic performances of Bert and the Banks children brought heart and humour to the show.

Beyond the music and spectacle, Mary Poppins Jr. was a testament to the creativity and dedication of Global Jaya School’s young thespians. “It’s more than just a musical; it’s a celebration of imagination, kindness, and the bonds that bring us together,” shared Director Ibu Muti.

With a packed theatre and an audience that cheered every perfectly timed step and note, Mary Poppins Jr. proved to be an unforgettable experience. A production full of joy, energy, and just the right touch of magic, it was, in every way, practically perfect.
