Mexican food lovers, brace yourselves. Super Loco, touted as the best Mexican food joint in Southeast Asia, has arrived in Jakarta, and you’re in for some crazy good and fun dining experience.
Super Loco is a collaborative effort between the UNION Group and the Loco Group. Inspired by the vibrant Mexican cuisine, Super Loco is all about freshness and simplicity, but also with a depth of flavour. Located on the ground floor of the Pacific Place Mall, right in the heart of the business district, it’s a great addition to the city’s dining scene.
Not only does Super Loco do a great job channeling the true essence of Mexican ambiance with its laid-back, fun and festive atmosphere, a glance at its menu – ensaladas, tostaditas, quesadillas, tacos and all – promises a wide array of exciting and refreshing. Having rocked Singapore with his innovative modern Mexican interpretations, Chef Jason Jones, who hails from Melbourne, now shares with Jakarta foodies his popular creations.
Take, for example, elotes or barbecued corn on the cob, seasoned with chipotle mayo, cheese and lime. It’s simple but addictive. For something heavier, opt for carne tostaditas (seared Angus rib-eye with red onion, oregano salsa and chipotle mayo served on crispy tortillas). It’s certainly easy to love the tender, perfectly cooked meat and its flavourful chipotle mayo.
Super Loco offers six kinds of tacos. We opted for the hot one, Cachete Y Lengua, which is ox ‘tongue and cheek’ with pickled coleslaw and ghost chili mayo – truly an indulgence for those who enjoy spicy stuff. However, if you’re not a big fan of spicy food, do ask the waiter to adjust the heat. Other than that, the meat was cooked to perfection and generously seasoned with herbs. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Cacheta Y Lengua is a true Mexican feast!
As they say, Mexican food works best with margaritas. At Super Loco Bar, you’ll find some excellent cocktails that perfectly complement the food. From margaritas to tequilas and mescals, the drinks are especially concocted by UNION Group’s Head Mixologist, Kiky Moca. Whatever the mood you’re in, Sangria Loco or Mangorita Frozen at this joint is guaranteed to kick it up a notch.
