The BWA CHARITY GALA 2022 took place recently in various venues inside the wonderful Mandarin Oriental Hotel, reviving a long tradition of the British Women’s Association of creating charity events that are not only great fun but raise significant amounts of money which ALL goes to selected charities. This event was no different and both objectives were more than achieved.
The theme was of course “Celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee” And was a fitting theme celebrating 70 years in the top job: the career and life achievements of an amazing woman. Emily Littlejohn the current Chairwoman of BWA opened the event with a short speech: “ On behalf of the British Women's Association I want to sincerely Thank You all for joining us this evening and supporting our beautiful little community. It is only with your help that we can continue to support our members, and local community here in Jakarta and our many Social Welfare projects.”
The Global Pandemic has been tough for us all, she said, and BWA has come through thanks to their marvellous volunteers, and gave special mention to her predecessor Sarah Watson along with the committee during that time. She thanked, of course her current committee for their support, trust and patience, and for their continued support for BWA as a whole.
She gave special thanks go to the Event and Platinum Sponsors: The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Jakarta , AsianTigers Group Indonesia, The Rio Club, Now!Jakarta – as official media sponsor, Balimoon – for the cocktails, and Eastern Promise for wine and beer supplies.
Then BWA Patron Cath Jenkins spoke about their Social Welfare projects and the Raffle and Auction which were the key to raising the money. We are delighted to report that their excellent organisation and the support of both the companies who donated the prizes and the individuals who purchased them resulted in a significant amount of money raised for the charities.
The evening continued with a really good supply of food and drink in the elegant Lyon Restaurant before moving to the MO bar where the dancing and partying really took place.
A really great and meaningful evening was had by all. Well done ladies.
