Offering a menu of classic French cuisine, BRIQ Bistro invites diners to settle into an intimate venue tucked away in Kebayoran Baru. The restaurant is the latest opening from a young group of hospitality professionals breaking their way into Jakarta’s food and beverage scene having found success in their first venture, BEBOP Bar + Kitchen.
From the street front, BRIQ Bistro’s eye-catching red door beckons curiosity, welcoming guests into a chic and cosy dining space that certainly channels the charm of a little Parisian bistro. At the back of the venue, a tidy open kitchen fills the restaurant with the bustle of busying French café, and its maroon colour-scheme and white tablecloths complete a ‘snug’ aesthetic that makes it great for dinner dates and tête-à-têtes.
The bistro inspiration does not stop with atmosphere, as BRIQ’s menu pays homage to French bistro classics, serving Provençal flavours and rustic favourites of the region. Entrées include Quiche Florentine, Pâte de Foie de Volaille, and of course a great serving of Escargots de Bourgogne. Other starting selections come the separate Soup, Salad and Pasta menus, offering Bisque de Homard (creamy lobster bisque cooked in Cognac) to the classic Salade Niçoise.
The bistro selection is best seen in the mains, where diners can indulge in classic dishes like Coq au Vin, Canard à l’Orange, Saumon en Croute, Poisson à la Bordelaise and Beef Bourguignon. Comfort favourites like Creme Brûlée and Molten Lava Cake tempt from the dessert options. Guests will find a good selection of wines to complement the menu.
Despite what its chic atmosphere and French food may suggest, BRIQ’s pricing is very approachable. There’s very little pretension here as they aim to be an easy-choice lunch and dinner venue, welcoming regulars with a warm ambience and hearty, satisfying dishes, all for a great price.
