Menara Peninsula Hotel appointed Indonesian born hotelier, Mr. Djulkarnain, as their new General Manager in March this year. With his new responsibilities, Mr. Djulkarnain is looking forward to taking over the reigns and enhancing the quality of service and general offerings of the hotel.
Mr. Djul, as he is fondly called, admitted to having fallen in love with the hospitality world -- especially the housekeeping sector – from an early age. It came as no surprise to him that he decided to pursue his dream to become a hospitality professional shortly after school by studying Hotel Management at college. Armed with newly acquired knowledge and practical skills, Mr. Djul started his adventure from scratch as a housekeeper until he successfully secured his prestigious new position at the Menara Peninsula Hotel. Mr. Djul got his first first golden opportunity when he was offered a job in a reputable hotel in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where he learned the ins and outs of the hospitality industry. Upon returning to his homeland of Indonesia, Mr. Djul joined the Accor Family. With Accor, he faced different challenges with each brand he headed, giving him precious experience which has helped shape who he is today. During his time working as the Executive Assistant Manager at Mercure Slipi, Mr. Djul received a scholarship from a prominent college in France, École des Arts Culinaries et de I’Hotellerie de Lyon. He also worked in Mercure Paris in the time between his studies. Prior to his appointment at Menara Peninsula Hotel, Mr. Djul managed a few hotels such as Novotel Bukit Tinggi, Ibis Malioboro Yogyakarta, and Novotel Surabaya before heading back to Jakarta in 2014 to run two brands at once; Mercure Jakarta Kota and Ibis Harmoni. After a sweet, 20-year journey with Accor, Mr. Djul decided to embark on another adventure with Menara Peninsula Hotel earlier this year. With his expertise and diverse experience in hospitality, Mr. Djul aspires to make Menara Peninsula Hotel one of the best four-star hotels in Jakarta, excelling in service levels and facilities.
