A Taste of Manado: Chef Petty Elliott Kitchen Takeover at 1928 Restaurant

1928 Restaurant at The Hermitage Jakarta, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, continues its Chef Take Over Series this time with Chef Petty Elliot. Born and raised in Manado, Chef Petty has prepared a tasting menu dedicated to the heritage flavours of her hometown, set for dinners taking place 10 & 11 June 2022.

UK-Based Chef Petty Elliott has been a champion of Indonesian food both locally and abroad. A personal curiosity drove the Manado-native to explore flavours of the archipelago for over 20 years, in that time she has built up her reputation through writing cookbooks, entrepreneurship and of course as a chef. The deeper she explored, her passion for the cuisine grew, leading her on a mission to promote Indonesian food worldwide. She has been invited as a guest chef in prestigious hotels, resorts and a restaurant around the world for her skills and her knowledge of Indonesian dishes.


With heritage being a central theme of 1928 Restaurant, highlighting The Hermitage’s colonial building, Chef Petty Elliott will draw on her own Manadonese heritage to deliver an exceptional dining experience. The celebrated connoisseur’s own special memories of helping her grandmother cook as a child will bring heart and authenticity to each dish, presenting spices, herbs and ingredients that make Manadonese cuisine standout among other flavours of the archipelago.

The seven-course tasting menu will feature delicacies like Smoked Octopus Tuturanga, Barramandi Tinorangsak, Klappertaart mille-feuille and more. These are Chef Petty’s modern interpretations and innovations based on the core and original flavours of classic dishes.

Dinner is priced at IDR 728.000++ per person and promises a real journey into Indonesia’s culinary heritage.
