As a part of the Taste Australia event that introduced Indonesian foodies to the riches of Australian produce and food items, handpicked Australian grapes are now available at a number of supermarkets in Indonesia.
Grapes in Australia are a popular snack in the summer time. Ideal for kids’ lunch boxes or sustenance on the go, it’s also the perfect snack to rehydrate oneself with!
This campaign also markets grapes as a healthy source of antioxidants. A superfood packed with phytonutrients including polyphenols, anthocyanin, and resveratrol, it could help with eye health.
As the leading Southern Hemisphere supplier of table grapes to Indonesia, Australia exported more than 15,000 tonnes to the nation last year and this year is set to be another record crop provided by Hort Innovation Trade. Indonesians will be able to enjoy a 20 per cent increase in volume due to new varieties coming into production, as well as extra tasty sweet grapes that has produced during growing season.
Hort Innovation Trade Lead, Dianne Phan said the short shipping times between Australia and Indonesia meant Australian grapes were able to get into the Indonesian market quickly and in top fresh condition. “Australia has an excellent reputation as a supplier of nutritious and high quality fresh fruit. Our unique, pristine environment makes it the ideal place to grow fresh produce. We are delighted to be able to provide a range of fresh grapes direct from our vineyards to customers in Indonesia,” Phan said.
Geology in Australia allows the grapes to grow in perfect condition which result to intensified sweetness and an eye-catching red, black or green colour of the grapes. Australia exports a wide range of seed and seedless varieties of grapes to Indonesia including Red Globe, Crimson Seedless, Thompson Seedless, Autumn Royal, Sweet Sapphire and Midnight Beauty.
To taste the range of premium Australian table grapes, foodies and home cooks could go to participating supermarkets including FoodHall, LionSuperindo, AEON, Frestive, Carrefour and Hypermart and enjoy seasonal red, black or green grapes.
