SIPFest 2024 doesn’t just stop at performances. On 13 and 14 August 2024, visitors can attend a Lecture Performance by Landung Simatupang titled “50 Years of Performing Arts in the Path of Health Sports.”, starting at 8:00 PM WIB. This insightful lecture will delve into transforming text readings and recitations into compelling performances that spotlight acting and artistic elements, as one would expect in theatre productions.

The festival’s entire offline execution comes with a special twist this year, bringin arts and enthusiasts back to the vibrancy and lively pre-pandemic atmosphere. According to Nirwan Dewanto, Program Director of the Salihara Arts Center Community, SIPFest represents the zenith of Salihara’s programs over the past two years. Previous editions occurred in hybrid (2022) and online formats (2020) under the guise of Musim Seni Salihara. But now, the fest is poised to reclaim its place in the real world, where art belongs.

“With SIPFest 2024, we want to invite the audience to truly recreate. Re-create: participate in reinventing art and culture with joy and freedom. To create a society that is healthy and sensitive to change and progress,” Nirwan explains with contagious enthusiasm.

This year’s theme, “A New Order of Art,” aims to embrace creativity, novelty, and joy. Salihara’s biennial festivals, including SIPFest and LIFEs, are renowned for their evocative slogans that capture the spirit of each event. Nirwan Dewanto passionately asserts that “we” have not only a political order but an artistic order. This artistic order beckons us to renew ourselves and open creative spaces that official power might have shuttered.

“Art is not only about overcoming politics; it also fills spaces not occupied by politics. Art provides an alternative to the clichés and stagnation offered by politics. Art invites us to renew ourselves and our society,” Nirwan elaborates.

Tickets for SIPFest 2024 are available at varying prices, from IDR 75,000 for students to IDR 155,000 for the general public.  Full schedules, performance details, workshops and ticket purchasing can be accessed and done from SIPFest’s official website.
