TIMELESS Yogyakarta brings to light the history, culture and wonder of Java’s cultural capital. The publication, a partnership between PT. Phoenix Communications and PT Java Mesa Nusantara, invites readers to discover the depths of Javanese history and culture.
The idea behind the TIMELESS series of magazines is to preserve, promote, protect and hopefully perpetuate the elements of life that exist uniquely in parts of the world, and especially here in Indonesia. The series began with TIMELESS Bali in 2021, whose objective was to give readers context to the culture they witness and a deeper understanding of all they see around them. After two volumes, the series expanded to Yogyakarta, working closely with the Keraton of Yogyakarta to create TIMELESS Yogyakarta in 2022.
At the helm of TIMELESS Yogyakarta is Editor Jean Couteau, an eminent art curator, historian, and cultural writer, who together with team of superb writers have created a truly amazing collection of extraordinary tales that delve into Javanese belief, history, traditions, folklore and even exploration. Stories have expanded into two volumes so far, offering a mosaic of writings that are as broad as they are complex.

Writers Include: Siti Adiyati | Nazrina Zuryani | Agus Dermawan T. | Doctor Nasir Tamara | Alia Swastika |Elisabeth Inandiak | Ni Made Purnamasari | Doctor Nasir Tamara | Benito Lopulalan | Radiaswari Subangun | Joseph Izmardha C. Dr. Ir. Yustinus Suranto, MP
Each writer has a real knowledge and understanding of their own area of expertise and this shows through so well in the ease with which historical, cultural, religious and mystical references spring to their command, uncovering the very essence of life in Yogyakarta.
