Jazz Market by The Sea, the cultural and community based festival, returns for its 6th year. The three-day festival, well-known for bringing local traditions and modern elements together, will take place from August 19 - 21, from 2pm to 11pm at Taman Bhagawan. During the three-day festivity, visitors will get a multi-coloured potpourri of live music performances, influenced by creative collaboration and improvisation of traditional Indonesian and Jazz music, a vibrant market showcasing local arts and crafts, a wide range of mouth-watering food and much more.
This year’s Jazz Market runs under the motto ‘Clothing The Nation’. It will take people back to the roots of Indonesia's fashionable heritage and encompass its identity as a nation. As clothing and textiles are a core part of the cultural fabric throughout the Indonesian archipelago, festival visitors will celebrate this key part of the nation’s identity. Patrons will certainly see the diversity of Indonesian textiles, clothing, and the evolution of customs.
It will include traditional and modern styles, through fashion shows for young designer labels, parades of cultural costumes, classes for Batik making, weaving, as well as educational textiles and fashion related workshops. Jazz Market 2016 carries a mission to showcase the stories and the unique process of these textiles, with the help of experts, Ibu Tya Adhitama and Ibu Amalia Irman from design company CEVA Bali, who will present their creation of home décor in traditional textiles.
