Supreme Casual Dining at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon

Globe Destinations | 8 December 2016

In contrast to its sister restaurant Joël Robuchon, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon offers a more casual atmosphere that lets guests relax while enjoying a great meal. The two-star Michelin restaurant and two-time winner in the Best Dining Experience category at the Singapore Experience Awards in 2012 and 2013 organized by Singapore Tourism Board, is Joël Robuchon’s inspiration based on the simplicity of Japanese cuisine and the vibrant atmosphere in Spanish tapas bars.

L’Atelier –meaning “workshop”- reflects a unique dining concept where chefs experiment and create, work on new ideas and fuse different concepts, reflective of the locale. They leave the dining style entirely up to the guests, whether they just want to order a single dish or a whole full-course dinner - they can decide. The open-concept kitchen allows guests to see how their food is prepared firsthand and become part of the action - the main dining area and kitchen are separated only by a counter. Consequently, the level of interaction between chefs and diners is increased, which might even leave the chefs to be encouraged to do a little better than their best. In addition, guests can enjoy the stunning backdrop of sensuous dark-and-red palette that conjures a glamorous, yet convivial atmosphere.

World-renowned interior designer, Pierre-Yves Rochon, who designed the first L’Atelier in Paris in 2003, created the signature dramatic sleek look with black and red furnishings and the servers at the restaurant are also dressed in black. The restaurant’s menu is divided into several parts: the a la carte menu comes highly recommended, and  tasting portions focus on presenting premium ingredients in their simplest form to highlight the essence of the produce. The culinary gems served at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon are crafted out of French inspiration, contemporary imagination and the finest ingredients.
