Exciting news comes from the Hyatt Hotels Corporation as they’ve announced the opening of Park Hyatt Jakarta, which marks a new milestone for the brand as the first Park Hyatt property to open in Indonesia. Nestled in the upscale Menteng area, in the heart of Jakarta’s bustling central business district, the newly-opened hotel provides a unique collection of culinary, leisure and wellness experiences along with luxurious event venues for bespoke celebrations, presenting guests with the ultimate luxury living in the city.
Occupying the top 17 floors of the 37-storey Park Tower, Park Hyatt Jakarta is located in the city’s hub of financial and diplomatic districts. The hotel’s surrounding area of Menteng was initially established in the 20th century as a garden city, which is renowned for its tranquil tree-lined streets, adorned with lush greenery, and charming heritage architecture. The hotel’s prime location offers direct access to beautiful parks, retail hotspots and entertainment venues along with panoramic views of the nearby National Monument Park.
As part of Hyatt’s global care and cleanliness commitment, the hotel prioritises the safety and wellbeing of guests and associates. To provide easy access to guests, the hotel can be accessed from four different streets, namely Jl. Kebon Sirih Raya, Jl. Mahbub Djunaidi, Jl. Wahid Hasyim, and Jl. Kebon Sirih Timur Dalam.
Contemporary Design with Indonesian Influence
Park Hyatt Jakarta’s residential-style interiors were designed by prominent award-winning London-based design company, Conran and Partners, led by partner Tina Norden. The design took inspiration from the beauty of Indonesian rainforests, traditional crafts and indigenous natural materials, incorporating elements such as lava stone and copper along with handwoven ikat textile motifs, intricate wood carvings and shields to present guests with a warm and welcoming haven of calm and elegance.
Guests are treated to a visual journey throughout the property, which symbolises the layers of the rainforest, beginning with a richer, darker colour scheme on the lower levels that represents the forest’s understory. The higher floors feature a lighter palette with warm tones incorporated throughout, which reflects branches wrapped around the trunk with dappled light filtered through the canopy. The atmospheric design and evocative design are aimed to transport guests from the urban bustle of the city into a serene, classy and comfortable environment with a visceral sense of location overlooking Jakarta.
Acclaimed Indonesian design consultant, Hadiprana, curated a custom art collection, which seamlessly blends traditional heritage with sleek modern designs that produce a subtle contrast between Jakarta’s modern urbanity with Indonesia’s ancient natural environment. Guests can also feast their eyes upon exclusively commissioned works by prominent Indonesian artist, John Martono whose swirling abstracts combine painting and hand embroidery on silk. The hotel also features European influences in its design. A series of hand-blown crystal installations and chandeliers present one of the hotel’s most stunning features, created out of thousands of delicate orbs that hoer like clouds, reflective of rainfall and starlit skies. A homage to the archipelago’s diverse cultural heritage, the guestrooms boast exceptional traditional Indonesian crowns made from copper, which is majorly featured as an interior accent for a delicate touch of grandeur.
Featuring 220 elegant and spacious rooms, including 36 suites, Park Hyatt Jakarta’s guestrooms range from approximately 615 to 915 square feet (57 to 85 sqm), while the suites range from approximately 935 to 2,450 square feet (87 to 228 sqm). Each room features floor-to-ceiling windows, granting undisturbed views of the city and the National Monument landmark. Guests can also indulge in deep-soaking marble baths and large flat-screen TVs with an integrated media hub. The rooms are decked out with classical Indonesian decorative objects from jewels to paintings and shields. Offering understated modern luxury, the Presidential Suite presents a spacious 3,230 square feet (300 sqm) with a private VIP entrance. The suite includes an 82-inch LED TV and a living space outfitted with a work desk made out of solid Trembesi wood.
