Aula Simfonia Jakarta Celebrates August with Indonesian Folk Songs
From this August until the end of the year, Aula Simfonia Jakarta entertains music enthusiasts with a lineup of concerts, bringing the best from the classical music scene, each month with different talents and set list.
The show that will be held on 19 August 2023, is highlighted by American pianist George Li, who was a recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2016 and silver medalist of the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition. The Jakarta Oratorio Society choir and orchestra will accompany Li at this momentous concert and they will be led by Indonesian- born conductor, Jahja Ling, whose Telarc CD Recording with Rolf Smedvig and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra had earned him a nomination for the Grammy Award in 1991.
With such a star- studded lineup, they play their rendition of the mesmerising Indonesian Folk Songs as well as concertos from Beethoven (Piano Concerto No.5 “Emperor”) and Tchaikovsky (Symphony No.5). Aula Simfonia Jakarta’s August concert will unite two cultures through music, celebrating the uniqueness of Indonesian folk songs and the much beloved classical music from Europe’s most legendary composers.
