Jakarta Content Week 2024: Shared Culture, Shared Future

Returning on 27 November to 1 December 2024, Jakarta Content Week 2024 will once again bring creative minds and industries together under one roof. Taking place at Taman Ismail Marzuki, the five-day festival spotlights the pressing topics and interest in Southeast Asia’s creative industries.

Jakarta Content Week (or JakTent) is an international literary and creative content festival pioneered and organised by 17000 Islands of Imagination Foundation, in collaboration with Jakarta International Literary Festival and supported by the Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair).

Featuring 70 sessions, 200 speakers and over 35 creative communities, JakTent’s rich diversity of events includes media exhibitions, a book fair, writer’s forums, book launches and also an awards night for the Literary Criticism Competition. Players from the publishing, design, film, music, startup and media industries will all be descending on Taman Ismail Marzuki to join the discussions, network and share ideas.

International speakers will grace the JILF x JakTent stages, including Hiromi Kawakami, a Japanese writer known for her off-beat fiction, poetry, and literary criticism; Naghmeh Mostashar Nezami, an Iranian poet, translator, and academic; to award-winning German short fiction writer and essayist, Isabel Fargo Cole.

Local heroes, from authors to activists, will certainly be sharing their thoughts and opinions during thought-provoking panels, including Hilmar Farid, Fadly Rahman, Astrid Enricka, Priti Sharma, Kristian Cordero, and more. Farwiza Farhan, an environmental activist from Aceh named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Next Leaders, will close this year’s JILF x JakTent.
